With its second store in Quillota, Unimarc carries out its first opening of 2026

Unimarc inaugurated its second store in the city of Quillota on Thursday, January 22, expanding its footprint in the Valparaíso Region. This is the first store opened this year by SMU, following the announcement of its 2026–2028 three-year expansion plan, which includes 38 new stores across its various formats in Chile (23 Unimarc, 10 Super10 and 5 Alvi) and 22 Maxiahorro stores in Peru, totaling 60 openings over the next three years. The opening ceremony was attended by representatives from the Municipality of Quillota, civil society organizations and company executives.
The new Unimarc in Quillota — the company’s 29th store in the Valparaíso Region — is located at Av. 21 de Mayo No. 1225, Lot 2B, and features a sales area of 852 square meters. It offers 11 checkout lanes, eight of which are self-service. To celebrate the opening, the store is offering exclusive promotional deals, prize draws, tastings and surprise giveaways for customers during the first few days of operation.
Unimarc Format Manager Lionel Gubler said: “We are very pleased to continue growing and to begin 2026 with this new opening. With this store in Quillota, we aim to deliver the best shopping experience to our customers, with a broad assortment, attractive prices and excellent service. We are also proud to create local jobs: of the 37 people working at this store, 81% live in the community and 70% are women.”
The new supermarket offers a wide assortment, particularly highlighting the quality of its fresh products, including meat, fruits and vegetables, bakery and pastry, deli meats and cheeses, and ready-to-eat meals. It also features a competitive range of SMU’s private-label brands — such as Nuestra Cocina, Tento, Amada Masa, Merkat, Fundo Río Alegre, Como en Casa, Los Peumos and Smart Clean — as well as products from Unimarc’s “100% Nuestro” program, which promotes local flavors through small businesses from all regions of the country.
