Residents of Pirque have access to a new Unimarc supermarket in their area, marking the fourth store opening by the chain this year. This location is part of the 21 stores previously operated by Montserrat that now form part of SMU's organic growth plan, a key initiative in their 2023-2025 strategy.

Located at Ramón Subercaseaux 230, the new Unimarc store, number 293, spans 810 square meters of sales floor. The store is designed with energy efficiency in mind, featuring LED lighting and refrigerated displays with doors, alongside six self-service checkouts aimed at speeding up the customer experience. With a selection of over 6,700 products, the store highlights SMU’s private label offerings and products from the 100% Nuestro program, which supports local suppliers.

Lionel Gubler, Unimarc's Format Manager, emphasized, "Here, you will find a top-notch supermarket offering a wide range of products that aim to meet everyone's needs, along with attractive promotions to help the neighbors' budgets. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the mayor of Pirque, Jaime Escudero, along with community representatives.

This opening also boosts local employment, with 70% of the store’s employees residing in Pirque. Mayor Escudero appreciated the new addition, noting, "Today, we have more options for Pirque residents to shop locally without needing to leave the commune. This new commercial space not only provides more choices for neighbors but also creates more employment opportunities for the local community and a space where we can form partnerships to also boost local entrepreneurs."

With this opening, Unimarc continues to execute its expansion plan, reaching more customers with an attractive value proposition that aims to make their lives easier.
