Residents of Renca now have a new Unimarc supermarket, marking the chain's second opening of the year. This new store is one of the 21 locations previously operated by Montserrat and now part of SMU's organic growth plan, a key initiative in their 2023-2025 strategy.

Located at Avenida José Manuel Balmaceda 4559, the newly inaugurated Unimarc spans 614 square meters of sales floor. The store features energy-efficient LED lighting and refrigerated displays with doors, as well as six self-checkout stations to streamline the customer checkout experience. It offers a selection of over 4,700 products, highlighting SMU's private labels and items from Unimarc’s 100% Nuestro program.

Lionel Gubler, Unimarc's Format Manager, emphasized, "Here you will find a top-tier supermarket offering a wide range of products to meet everyone's needs, along with attractive promotions to support the community’s budget. We will continue to fulfill our mission of being ever closer to families across Chile and making life easier for our customers."

The opening ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Renca, Claudio Castro, and community representatives.

This opening also contributes to local employment, with 70% of the new store's employees residing in Renca. Mayor Claudio Castro praised the opening, stating, "SMU and Unimarc are making a significant impact on a community like Renca. We are thrilled they are providing jobs to our residents. We hope this partnership continues to grow over time."

This way, Unimarc continues to execute its expansion plan, reaching more customers with an attractive value proposition that simplifies their lives.

Finally, Paula Araneda, President of the Lourdes I Neighborhood Council, remarked, "This is the best thing that has happened to us in a long time. This supermarket is important for the community, providing cashiers and products. I urge the neighbors to take care of it".
