Unimarc.cl and Chile Rugby Announce Partnership to Promote Rugby Across the Country

Unimarc.cl announced a partnership with Chile Rugby aimed at promoting the sport throughout the country by supporting all its categories and national teams: Cóndores, Chile XV, Cóndores 7's, youth Cóndores, women's Cóndores, and Selknam Rugby.

Unimarc.cl's decision to join the Ruta del Cóndor, which aims to spread the values of healthy living and sports throughout Chile, aligns with its operations, which have a national presence across the country’s sixteen regions.

The partnership was announced at an event held on Wednesday, May 22, at Unimarc de Los Militares. The event featured Javier Fernández, SMU’s Corporate E-commerce Manager; Sebastián Estrada, General Manager of Chile Rugby; and Chilean national team and Selknam players Jorge Delgado and Matías Garafulic, who shared their experiences and expectations for the future of rugby. Notably, Garafulic participated in the last World Cup in France, where Chile competed for the first time in its history.

Javier Fernández, SMU’s Corporate E-commerce Manager, stated, “We are proud to accompany Chile Rugby on its journey to promote the sport in our country and support our national teams in their upcoming high-level competitions. We invite everyone to embrace the spirit of the Cóndores that achieved the historic feat of qualifying for the Rugby World Cup 2023 in France for the first time. At Unimarc.cl, we will support Chilean rugby in all its forms and categories through our presence in all regions of the country.”

Sebastián Estrada, General Manager of Chile Rugby, said, "We are very pleased to announce this important partnership, where Unimarc.cl becomes a strategic partner of Chile Rugby and all our national teams: the Cóndores, Las Cóndores, Selknam Rugby, and the Cóndores 7s. We are proud to be part of this Chilean company that, like us as a Federation, is present throughout Chile, from Arica to Punta Arenas. Together, we will address common needs for the rugby community and better fulfill our High-Performance and Development programs.

We look forward to creating successful campaigns together, ensuring that the rugby family has greater access to Unimarc.cl and that we continue to grow our sport, bringing more people into the Chile Rugby community."

The players then shared the work they are doing in preparation for upcoming international competitions this year, including friendly matches with Hong Kong, Belgium, and Scotland to be held in Chile. They also mentioned significant challenges such as the Nations Cup in 2026 and the Rugby World Cup in Australia in 2027.

In this context, Garafulic spoke about the work they do in the national team and the support from Unimarc.cl, stating, “We are always happy to bring in new sponsors, brands, and people who believe in our project and understand that this is the new standard. We are fighting every day, every minute, for Chilean rugby to continue growing and to achieve a solid global reputation. We reached the World Cup because we never stopped striving, and even though the conditions were not ideal, we overcame every barrier and gave our all. Today, we can pave the way better for those joining the team and for future generations. Partnerships like the one we are celebrating today with Unimarc.cl make a significant difference.”

It is worth noting that the coming years will require discipline, effort, and great teamwork to face events such as the Paris 2024 Olympics, the Nations Cup 2026, and the Rugby World Cup 2027 in Australia, among others.
